Kilmahew Castle Cardross

It was going to be a bit tricky; the way to the castle was over a field and a couple of fences.
We set off in daylight so that we would be able to see where we were walking.
We cautiously picked our way avoiding pot holes. After around 10 minutes we spotted the castle through the trees.
There it was; a shell of intrigue and beauty.

Everyone was impressed by its beauty and we quickly scaled the rather wobbly fence, some faster than others.
We proceeded to look around and explore the inside and the surrounding area, checking for any hazardous areas we might want to avoid in the dark.

When darkness fell the moon was big and full and our bat detector told us that we had bats around.
It was interesting watching them ducking and diving.

We went into the roofless castle, trees and animal lives were abundant.
A rather big owl and some other birds were nesting up at the roof space.
We held a vigil inside but the only sounds we heard were the birds and bats.
There were a couple of scary moments.

We decided to hold vigils around the perimeters; our more sensitive members sensed the presence of two little girls.
One called Lucy who used to go there for picnics and another little girl who was hiding and frightened.
We offered the frightened girl our help to leave into the light. We believe she did this.

We moved round to the left hand side of the castle where there was an obvious cold wind blowing through the building.
Our sensitive members felt fear and dread at a spot on the grass, it felt as though it was coming up from underneath.
These feelings were accompanied by some rather sore backs.
We formed a circle to hold a seance, but some of the team felt so frightened and unwell that they had to move to another area.

All feelings aside, there was no scientific evidence of anything paranormal.
